A couple of years ago (wow – a couple?!) I spent a few hours in Erik’s room putting up balloons.  Balloon stickers that is.  Red balloons.  They looked great.  But, well time goes on, and we all need a change.  Especially when someone gave a toddler white walls.  White walls that he put his dirty feet on everyday when he was put down for nap and didn’t want to be there.

And we all know how it goes after a couple of years of getting gifts and other random things that your three year old collects.  So needless to say, his room was pretty much a disaster and no one could take it anymore.

I hate clutter.  Can you believe I let this go on this long?  Ah life, it sneaks up on  you and clutters up your world.

Shrek needs his helmet in case he falls, course.

Feeling dizzy yet?  Yea we’re going in circles.

Okay we have an empty room.  And yes, that is Erik dancing in front of the mirror.  And no, I don’t know where he gets crazy ideas like that from…

But pay attention to the sweatshirt….it’s foreshadowing (is it still foreshadowing if you point it out?  this is why I was never an English major).

The ceremonial removal of covers.  And we are balloon-less now.

Okay so yeah I pointed out that serious clutter problem we were having – well – while we were painting we did what a normal kid would do while cleaning.  We just moved the mess.

Yea, we were seriously doing stuff like that for a couple of days.

And……….

The first of the color goes on.  And is that really Syracuse orange?  Why yes, it is.

Hot right?  Yes, we rule.

And moving on to the next color.

We do participate in child labor.  Call your local DCFS.

That looks really bad.  Ouch.

Oh and Brandon decided we needed more pictures of our moved mess.

Yes that is the cat laying on the dog bed.

Well however fun it may be to have a toddler bed in the kitchen, we finished the room and moved everything back in.  Sad, this I know.

Final product:

Yea, his bed was downgraded.  Made for much more room as you can see.  But poor Logan got moved to the floor.  Yea – poor Logan.

The paint wasn’t completely dry – that’s why it looks spotty.  It’s 100% now.

Much better right?

We charge $100 an hour for remodeling.  ; )

And just so we’re all on the same page, Erik was the one that asked for a Syracuse room.  As you see in previous pictures he is wearing a Syracuse sweatshirt.  It was 80 degrees out, but he refused to take it off.  He’s slightly obsessed.

So yesterday I spent most of the day putting up Erik’s 99 red balloons in his room. 200 plus stickers. My hands and back are still sore from doing them. When Erik first saw them though his eyes lit right up and he started smiling. Then he kept pointing at them and wanting to touch them. What a great kid. He says bawwoon every time he sees them.

Nothing horribly new on the Erik front. He is obsessed with Shrek for some reason. We watch it everyday. And I mean, everyday. Sometimes, no joke, twice a day. I rotate between Shrek 1 and Shrek 2, but my god. The kid is obsessed. It’s so funny too, because he will sit through the whole thing every time like he has never seen it before. Every time to him is the first time. He laughs and smiles and makes funny faces throughout the movie too. His new favorite word to say is donkey. Sounds more like dawnkey but that’s okay. :-)

Erik still loves the puppy dogs though. When I dropped Drake off to get his grooming Erik starting screaming when the lady took him away. I don’t know why, the dogs are such a pain. I have finally gotten Erik to kind of listen to my reasoning with him. When we are in the car and he decides to pitch a large fit, I just say firmly that when we get home he will go immediately to bed and no more Shrek. He will stop immediately. He hates the threat of having to go to bed. But at the same time, he is so good about bed time. I’m not sure about him.

So I have gotten a few things done in the camp finally that has made it feel more like home. I have the curtains up and the way they are going to stay for the most part. The curtains that are upstairs on the sliding doors are too long and need to be hemmed, but as for the lack of sewing machine, it’s going to have to wait until I can borrow one. I got most of Erik’s room done. I just have to grab some red paint to paint the shelf on his headboard. Then I’m going to paint his hands and have him put his hand prints on the wall. I am also going to pick up some blinds for him today, and a curtain rod to hang up the curtain in the doorway between his room and the bathroom (just for now, until we get that room done). Speaking of, this weekend is going to be filled with fixing the floor back there and getting a new water heater. Well not Saturday, but Sunday.

Saturday I’m taking Brandon out for his birthday. We are going to a nice wine bar/restaurant and then are going to go play laser tag. Neither of us have ever done it, so it will prove to be interesting. Haha, we’ll probably be horrible, but it’s all in good fun. Then we might head back to the restaurant we were originally at because they have live music on Saturday nights starting at nine. It’s also a wine bar, and we all know how much Brandon and I love wine…

I’ve got all of the pictures hung up here as well. Most of the furniture is here, besides our bed. We are using Brandon’s old bed right now, and it’s proving our theory on our bed that is currently still sitting at the house. Brandon and I are both suffering from back pain. Once you sleep on our mattress for awhile, you can’t sleep on anything else without hurting. So, we desperately miss our bed. Hopefully we can get it within the next couple of weeks. It’s going to require a trip with the trailer down since it’s so big. We are also hoping for a purchase offer on the house…sometime, like, now. We know it’s only been a little over a week, but, well, we need to sell it.
