A honest to God Erik-ism:
Us:
Erik, do you want pizza?
Erik:
No, I will eat pizza later, remember?
Us:
How can you remember something that is happening later?
Erik:
Uh, I don’t know.
So I decided to start making a list of some of the funny things Erik says. He will say something for the longest time (like he called his blanket his ‘bait’) and then he will learn the correct word. Sadly, we forget a lot of the cute things, so I figured why not write them down.
DVD – DD
Couch – Chouch
Garbage – Darbage
Erik – Airwalk (although he has stopped this in the past month and has started to say Erik correctly)
Ketchup – Chetchup
Blanket – was Bait, then Blank, now it’s Blanket
Heavy – Heady
Love – Lah
Computer – Pear
Sayings:
Erik don’t like it
Leave Erik ‘lone
This is my Logan/Leroy/Mommy/Daddy (never Drake, poor boy)
I’ll add more as I think of it.
Patti and I were going through the “digital clutter” that accumulates over time (especially when you keep changing computers/hard drives). While doing that, we found some forgotten videos taken from the camcorder or our cell phones that we want to share.
Most of the videos (actually, I think all) are of Erik and they’re all pretty cute!
Enjoy and let us know what you think!
I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I’ve updated!
Not much has gone on in the life of Erik. His vocabulary has gotten exponentially better. He can speak in sentences now. The cutest thing he says by far is the way he says “thank you.” Brandon and I have gotten him to say “no, thank you” now. It’s funny because he uses two different tones. He says no really low, then he says thank you really high. Haha, he’ll get the hang of it.
Erik started going to daycare. He only goes two days a week for a couple hours each day, but he loves it. It’s really good for him as well. I originally had a class to take this summer but then was able to drop it. The daycare was already paid for, and he needs the socialization so we kept him in it. He never wants to leave!! Whenever I go pick him up he cries. His teacher’s name is Alexis and he loves her.
The potty training is slow going. He fights with me when I try to do it. He constantly shouts no. *sigh* I’m going to try harder here, soon. I’m giving up on the waiting thing.
We have started going in the boat again and Erik loves it. The above picture is him in his new life jacket (yes it’s on backwards). He actually doesn’t mind his life jacket this year, so that’s a positive thing.
Erik’s favorite saying is what are you doing? Or you’re so funny. If you ask him what he is doing, he’ll ask you again what are you doing? Kid is crazy, I swear.
He has developed a liking for fruit. To him fruit is candy. He has always liked it, but lately it’s 90% of what he wants to eat. He loves grapes, strawberries, and of course apples. He still will just bite into one and eat the whole thing. It amazes me. He’s so “funny.” Haha. He still likes his coaties best. For those of you that don’t know, that means cookies. He loves oreos. Who doesn’t?
Brandon has been trying to teach Erik how to ride his tricycle. He will sit on it and push with his feet on the ground, but won’t actually push the peddles. We’re doing it inside where there isn’t a lot of room though, so hopefully once it gets warmer we can go outside and practice. It will be nice when the lake isn’t frozen and we can teach him how to swim. If he likes it. Last year he hated anything to do with the water besides being on the boat. Hopefully that problem is gone now, since we live on the lake.
Erik’s Dr.’s appointment went well. He ended up being in the 50th percentile for his height and the 50th percentile for his weight. How more normal could he be? Can’t complain though.
When we were in FL I contracted some kind of stomach bug, and sadly passed it on to Erik. Mine last about 48 hours or so, but his lasted about 5-6 days. Poor kid. He is doing better now. Had me worried for a little while. The Dr. wanted to see him but he was doing alright so no worries.
Erik has been doing good with his vocabulary. The only color I can get him to point out is blue. He can say pretty much everything now, but has a lot of abbreviations and funny ways of saying things. Like “cookies” sounds like “goat cheese.”
He is slowly starting to be potty trained. He has finally gotten to the point of where he knows to ask to go potty, but by the time we get there he has already gone or mostly. The Dr. said that he should be potty trained any day now, so we’re working at it. He has made the first steps, and is starting to become more interested in it. He understands it now, which is good.
Erik has started saying Baba for his cup every now and then. He acquired this from his favorite cousin Caitlyn, who has stolen Erik’s word, cup, and used it. They somehow swapped. I have been told that Caitlyn can’t pronounce cup very well though, and it sounds like something else. Haha, oops.
Erik had a great 2nd birthday party. He had a really good time and was in a really good mood the entire day. His favorite new toy is his ride on disney airplane. It’s cute. He picked it out.
He got a lot of new movies, which is great for me! Helps keep my sanity!
Erik goes to the Dr. on Thursday for his 2 year check up with his new Dr. I’m excited to see what percentile he falls into now. He seems a bit bigger than other kids.
Erik is talking more and more as well. He can talk in sentences now. He will say things like “I closed the door.” We’re still working on our colors and potty training. Hopefully soon.
So I have been trying to compile a list of what Erik can say. They say at around 22 months he should be able to say around 100 words.

Well that seems about it. That I can think of at least. 94 words. I guess he’s not far behind… We’re trying!
Well Erik had an okay Thanksgiving. He decided to pitch a fit at the beginning of dinner, and during the middle/end. I ended up having to take him outside for a little while until he calmed down. When we were getting ready to leave, he saw another little girl and decided to go up and try to hug her. It was adorable.
Well I think I figured out how to quickly update the blogs and enabled comments, so feel free to leave some.
This is just a quick note to let everyone know this. I switched to the apple mobile me account for the time being to see how we like it.
Other than that Erik is well. He is talking a ton now. He can say pretty much, everything. We can understand almost everything.
Well we finally got Erik a costume. It was much debate, as the kid decided he hated anything that would go on his head. But for risk or ruining a surprise, I save telling everyone what it is until they see pictures. I suppose you probably could get it out of Erik’s Aunt as she got a matching costume so she could come trick-or-treating with us. She cracks me up.
So we finally figured out what the “ba-ba” thing he has been saying means. In nepalese, which his sitter is from Nepal, the word for sit sounds like “bah.” So, that’s what he has been saying. It’s funny because if he won’t sit I will then ask him to do so in spanish, and then if that doesn’t work I’ll use “bah.” He sits immediately. I guess he knows his sitter means business!
Erik burned his arm on the pellet stove at the camp last Friday. Poor kid. He has this tub of toys that set a little off to the side of the pellet stove. He has this set of a shovel and rake, and he was trying to pull the shovel out of the tub. He kind of flung his arm back and hit the stove. This is all assumption really after examining the crime scene. I was right around the corner on the stairs painting, but Erik didn’t start crying. He just came over and sat on my lap and then I noticed he was trying not to cry. He was doing the lip quiver thing. I kept asking him what was wrong and he wouldn’t tell me, so I finally started like turning him over trying to figure out if he hurt himself. I then noticed the red arm. I asked him if he burned himself and he nodded and then started to cry. Poor kid. I think he thought he was in trouble because he knows he is not allowed to touch the stove. What a well behaved little man though. It didn’t look so bad at first, but then it got huge. It turned colors as well, so Brandon and I decided that we should get it checked out by the dr. The dr. said it was okay and gave us some prescription burn cream, but it gave us a scare anyway. He also had hives, which we are assuming is from one of the laundry detergents I decided to use. They are finally starting to go away though. Thank God.
