21. Get a nose ring.

Ok, so here is the story. This is my pretty friend Jen:

Don’t let her cute innocence fool you. She can be evil. I love you still Jen. And, she will hate this picture of herself even though it’s a beautiful picture, because Jen just hates pictures of herself. But she’s so darn pretty and I love this photo.

I was speaking with Jen on Monday, my birthday, and was telling her that I had written a 30 things I wanted to do before I turned 30 list. She asked if I had put get a new tattoo down, and I said no, but I did put down that I wanted a nose ring. Her immediate response, with utter glee, was that I was going to be getting that done, today.

The reason I had never gotten a nose ring prior is, even after having a belly ring and an eyebrow ring (what was I thinking?), I was still afraid of the pain. Forgetting that I had my stomach cut open and a baby ripped out of it, and I lived through that, I was still afraid of a little needle through the nose. Of course I had envisioned this needle to be as big as a broom stick. And I always had that nagging little voice in the back of my head saying Jeez Patti, you’re too old damn it! So, that’s why it went on my 30 before 30 list, and I knew I was going to have to be pushed to do it.

Apparently, Jen was just the person! So I went to meet her for “coffee,” and she took me down to the local tattoo/body piercing shop to meet the lovely gentlemen that would stick a big ‘ole needle through my nose. While I was standing in the waiting room I just kept shaking my head as I envisioned blood squirting out of all of the holes in my head. Jen kept saying, it’s ok, you’re doing it. What are friends for, right?

Well, apparently I am a champ at getting pierced because I didn’t even flinch. It was nothing. Honestly. The pain lasts .05 seconds, and it hurt a heck of a lot less than those i.v.’s that I had gotten a couple of days prior (that’s another story, I’ll tell it next week). So, now Jen is my hero, because I love my nose piercing. And, I feel a little less old every time I look at it.

Erik was a total sport during it and played Angry Birds while I got it done. Thank you Apple.

So my nice piercer guy (what’s his title anyway?) Gregg, was very pleasant and made me feel very comfortable. He told me to just keep my eyes closed and I would be good. And I did. And I was.

And it’s done! Mr. Gregg wasn’t interested in having Jen take pictures while he was doing it, as the whole flash and piercing needles through people’s skin don’t mesh. I was squeezing my eyes together so hard that they started to water, but nice Mr. Gregg dried them for me. Aw.

And this is how it looks now, two days later:

Love it! My lights make me look tan! Yes! And sorry for the lack of a good photo, as the arms extended and having no idea what the picture looks like doesn’t always equate to taking a good photo. Which would be the case here.

I’ll figure out how to get my list up on the sidebar so I can actually mark stuff off. :-)

Happy Wednesday, people!

I don’t bake.  Anyone that knows me knows this.  I’m actually not very good at it.  I can make peanut butter balls, but as that doesn’t involve actually turning the stove on, we’re good.  So, when we had an entire tub full of blackberries that we picked from around the yard, I called upon Amy to come help me make pie out of them.

Well, as life goes, Amy just did it for me.  It was much more difficult to try to teach me.

She had to use our table as we have pretty much no counter space.  Ah…love the lake!

Erik kept sneaking blackberries out of the bowl.  Of course he was given away with the stains on his fingers.

She did an amazing job.  At least I think so, since I don’t really do blackberries.  I like the flavor, not a seed person.  I mean, it’s all in your mouth rolling around and it’s all you can taste.  It’s rough man – rough.  And as an obsessive flosser, having stuff stuck in my teeth is not my thing.

Life has been ultra hectic.  I’m pretty  much never home, and Brandon hasn’t been all week either.  We went for days without seeing each other.  So, I have a new husband.  And this is her ultra cute puppy.

Yes, she has a baby sling to carry her around it.  I think it’s pretty freaking funny.

I mean, our cat sleeps in the dog crate.

I like to go out on dates with my friends.  The kinds of dates where you eat food that you know you totally should not be doing if you want to weigh any type of respectable amount.  The kind where there is lots of laughing and babbling on about not much at all.  I do that with my friend Jen.  And we go to fun places that are named things like The Chocolate Pizza Company.  And we get these types of fun shirts.

Brandon <3′s me, you know he does.

We also get to go on play dates with our littles.  Jen’s little, her niece Lea, prefers Brandon over Erik though.

There was also this really amazing sunset going on the night we played.  I don’t have any idea who’s house this is – so if it’s yours, oh so sorry.  Don’t shoot me.

We all had fun at the park.  Even me.  Ha.

Now Emma had fun without us the day before.  I’m a really overprotective kitty owner, so poor Emma doesn’t get to go outside.  She begrudges me a little, and I feel bad, but still won’t budge.  Brandon talked me into letting her out on our porch upstairs since she couldn’t go anywhere but it was still outside.  Well, she went somewhere.

Erik came out in his underwear to see the commotion.  I wish I had his fear-less personality sometimes.

As we won’t obviously won’t be living here forever, here’s an image so you can enjoy our view too, even after we’ve gone.

This past weekend we got the pleasure of visiting my friend Mary and her family in Pompton Lakes, NJ.  I haven’t seen Mary in quite some time – since I was working in Oneonta, so it was great to see her.  And to meet her little Hailey.  So cute.

I waited until Friday to pack since we were only going for a weekend trip.  I’m ultra organized when I pack.  Erik thinks it’s kind of funny.

He was so ready to go all day.  He was really excited.

He couldn’t wait to go.  All day long he would say “Mommy let’s pack,” even when we were packing.

We had a pretty uneventful 3 hour drive to Jersey from Binghamton.  Admittedly I slept for a little bit of the way (the Patti kind of sleep – which means just laying there with my eyes closed).  Once we got to Jersey, it was nothing but love baby.

Erik has fallen head over heels.  And I’m okay with that.  They have proclaimed themselves best friends, and they couldn’t be more adorable.

We also went and got pedicures which resulted in Tricia having inappropriate feelings for her pedicure lady.  Hailey ended up with the cutest piggies, of course.

The nice lady at the salon gave her a huge lollipop, which she immediately started enjoying.

Tee hee.

So, that’s that.  We had a wonderful time people, so be jealous.  : )

Oh, and they have an adorable dog named Buster who likes to watch people.  And we all know I’m a sucker for dogs.
