This past weekend we got the pleasure of visiting my friend Mary and her family in Pompton Lakes, NJ.  I haven’t seen Mary in quite some time – since I was working in Oneonta, so it was great to see her.  And to meet her little Hailey.  So cute.

I waited until Friday to pack since we were only going for a weekend trip.  I’m ultra organized when I pack.  Erik thinks it’s kind of funny.

He was so ready to go all day.  He was really excited.

He couldn’t wait to go.  All day long he would say “Mommy let’s pack,” even when we were packing.

We had a pretty uneventful 3 hour drive to Jersey from Binghamton.  Admittedly I slept for a little bit of the way (the Patti kind of sleep – which means just laying there with my eyes closed).  Once we got to Jersey, it was nothing but love baby.

Erik has fallen head over heels.  And I’m okay with that.  They have proclaimed themselves best friends, and they couldn’t be more adorable.

We also went and got pedicures which resulted in Tricia having inappropriate feelings for her pedicure lady.  Hailey ended up with the cutest piggies, of course.

The nice lady at the salon gave her a huge lollipop, which she immediately started enjoying.

Tee hee.

So, that’s that.  We had a wonderful time people, so be jealous.  : )

Oh, and they have an adorable dog named Buster who likes to watch people.  And we all know I’m a sucker for dogs.

Alright, I will get on with the posting thing.  This, alas, won’t be all the pictures I have to post.  I think wordpress my keel over and die if I try to keep posting soooo many pictures at once.  We will do this slow.  Like learning to ride a bike.

Well the rest of the BBQ was amazing – of course.  I wonder why I keep saying that word, amazing.  Hmm.  The kids totally dug the slide, and the adults were instructed to keep off.  Ha – I really wanted to get on, too.  Maybe next time, when no one is around!  : )

Okay Brandon took all of these.  I can’t take credit.  Good job, Babe.

My very oldest friend Lauren came to the BBQ with us.  I love her.  So does my family!  We have been friends for….15 years?  And close friends for all 15 years, which is rare with me.

She has a beautiful son named Aidan, that I may just borrow since we may not have any more children.  And…she is pregnant again!!  So I might as well just take Aidan since she’ll have another, right?  ; )

The BBQ went off wonderfully.  Everyone had an amazing (there’s that word again) time.  Everyone stayed until we could barely keep our eyes open and we were sitting in chairs because moving was becoming an issue.  We all ate too much, laughed too much, and loved life too much.

We brought down some spiedie marinade and it appeared that we were the heroes of the party.  Everyone loved them.  They were the first things gone.  Oh Florida, you are missing some things.  Not many, but some.

Well, we are home now.  Life has returned to normal.  Not that life isn’t normal in Florida – we spent a bit of time working on my mom’s house (not nearly as much as we wanted).  Then we watched movies and laid around some.  I did school work (hatehate).  We really enjoyed doing, everything.

And we miss being there.  Our hearts our sad.  I miss my family.  Oh so much.  : (

So, well, it has been amazing here.  We have had such a wonderful time with everyone…  We had to say goodbye to Sonny and Angel tonight because they had to go to their dad’s tomorrow until after we leave.  It was pretty horrible.  Angel was so upset she couldn’t stop crying.  In fact she is still awake right now crying …it breaks my heart.  : (

Okay, we will be happy for the moment.  For it has been some of the happiest days in the history of happy days.

We had a pretty good flight down – we ended up flying from Rochester to Orlando because it was so much cheaper.  We were able to get a rental car because of the money saved on the flight.

On the tram at the airport in Orlando.

So we drove the two hours from Orlando to get here.  We ended up finally getting to my mom’s house around 9 p.m.  So we just unpacked and were lazy for a little while before bed.

Saturday was wonderful – of course.  After getting up in the a.m. we got ready and headed over to my sister Chris’s house.  After some heartfelt reunions we finally got around to getting to the beach.  We ended up going to Howard Beach in Tarpon Springs.  A smaller beach but still great.  Erik and Brandon’s first time swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.  Very cool for them.

Simone had a pretty good time too.  The water was a little seaweed filled – but we survived anyway.

After our beach excursion we decided to wash off not in the shower like normal people – but in another body of water!  This time in Chris’s mother-in-laws pool.

After spending most of the day in some type of water, and in the sun, we decided to go back home and be completely lazy and get already made dinner from the grocery store.  We were all way too tired.  Hey, it was still great.  : )

Since I am camera obsessed, I already have over 200 shots.  My lovely niece Simone is almost as camera obsessed as me, so when we were going crazy Saturday night taking pictures, there are amazingly enough some pictures of myself.  Woohoo!

Caitlyn’s shirt says love.  Sums up my feelings perfectly.

Beautiful girls – God I’m so proud to be their aunt.

We get a little silly sometimes.  It’s a sister thing.

Sunday was….well guess what…amazing.  It was the day of our family/friends BBQ.  It was the first time since Erik’s baptism that ALL of the kids were together.  And of course I took advantage of that….

Haha love the last picture – Marijane has her fingers in her nose.  GREAT!

So I had this amazing idea of getting the kids to stand in height order.

Okay yea, it actually turned out to be one of the hardest thing in the history of photography – but well, they’re cute anyway.  Even if not in a single one are they all looking.

I’m sure the ultra mega cool huge slide they were standing in doesn’t help with the attention span thing.

Okay there were a few more but they weren’t any better.  : ( I still love them – and they will be printed.  I can oh so fully promise you that.

There are more from the BBQ, and they will be in the next post, promise.  You just wait….total picture overload.

I keep coming across article like this one:

Parents who shouldn’t be allowed on planes

And I get upset.  There are constant comments about how children shouldn’t be able to fly etc. etc.  Erik has flown more than most people.  He has cried a couple times on a plane, but only for a few minutes.  We keep him occupied with movies (on my laptop) and coloring and such.  We bring tons of crap to keep him distracted.  Maybe he is used to flying so he stays quiet.  And those couple of times he does cry for that crucial minute?  I find him much less annoying than the guy with the headphones with really loud obnoxious music.  Or the really obnoxiously loud two women who are sitting behind me telling story of how Sally was sleeping with Billy.

I’ve been with crying babies.  They usually cry because their ears hurt on the way up and they don’t understand.  But it’s unfair of people to so quickly pass judgment and say people with kids should wait until their old enough to not cry.  Erik is well behaved.  And I don’t like getting the nasty looks when we get on with him.  Those people with the nasty looks are always the ones who say to me “I didn’t even know he was here!  How well behaved!”  I just look at them and nod.  I don’t even bother saying “Thank you” because I know it’s a completely loaded compliment.  Jerks.

I’m still stressed.  But of course.  Thursday is my Friday, but I’m looking forward to today less than I look forward to the day when my car blows up on the highway with me in it.  Seriously, that’s how much I’m hating today.  Intense eh?  If you only knew.  How pathetic I’m being.

Good news!  OHMYIACTUALLYHAVESOME!  We are going to Florida again at the end of May.  We actually used our brains (not a popular past time with the Fintons) and got a rental car this time.  So we will be able to visit more people.  Or torture them with our presence.  You pick.

Why does our website take so long to load?  It’s driving me nuts.  Anyway.

We are home.  Homehomehomehome.  This is home, right?  It’s seems slightly too frozen to be a home.  Ah well.

Florida was splendid.  Who says splendid?  I feel like I’m 70.  Anyway, again, it was fun.  Well, except for all the sickness and other crap.  We didn’t get to see nearly as many people as we would have liked.  I missed Crystal, and Malea, and Lupe…ah so sad.  SO SO Sad.  Okay I’m done whining.

School hath started.  Queue intense panic.

Or intense cynicism.

I have really sucked with updating.  Gotta say Brandon isn’t helping though!

So I’m in Florida, finally.  We left the house a little before 6 in the evening on Tuesday, and I didn’t arrive in Florida until almost 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon.  How insane is that.  Our flight left over an hour late on Tuesday, so I missed our connection flight.  Which stranded us in D.C. overnight, and when we got to D.C. we had to wait in line at the United Customer Service for about two hours at 11 o’clock at night.  Sounds rough for me, but for a 3 year old, it was hell.  We luckily got put up in a hotel, and got about 5 hours of sleep.  Then our flight was supposed to leave at 8:40, but we were stuck sitting on the plane waiting for them to fix it for about 4 hours.  I’m not kidding.  We were just sitting in the plane.  Poor Erik…we didn’t get to eat or anything.  Erik didn’t eat for almost two days.  I felt horrible.

We are here now though, and everything is good.  Erik and I haven’t left the house since we got here now.  Haha.

Caitlyn is happy, though.

Holy lack of update batman! I am best at updating at night but whenever I type a lot it wakes Brandon up.  So blame it on him.  It’s definitely his fault.

I re-activated my facebook.  After much deletion (no offense intended) it wasn’t stressing me out anymore, so I guess it can stay.  For the time being.

Erik and I leave for Florida tomorrow.  I really should be getting ready.  Completely unmotivated.  I’m too tired.

Brandon is getting a new car tomorrow.  Yay.  He is getting an 06 Toyota Matrix (I successfully converted him).  No more broken truck!  Woooooooo.  It only has 22k miles on it too, so we got lucky.
